Charley Black arrives

Charley Black has arrived in POM, bringing dancehall sounds all the way from Jamaica.

The "Gyal you a party animal" singer arrived in the country at 1pm, this afternoon.

He will be performing this popular party anthem and other hits tonight at the Cosmopolitan club, in Port Moresby.

He arrives from Cairns, where he last performed, and will be returning to Sydney, to complete the last few lag of his Australia-New Zealand tour. Tonight will be his 8th performance out of the 10 scheduled for his tour.

Despite being thousands of kilometers away from Jamaica, the dancehall sensation said he feels at home.

"Honestly I thought I was home. The sun, the climate, Digicel, everything here reminds me of Jamaica. It's the same vibe and energy," he said.

But he admits he had no idea about PNG prior to his travel here.

Charley Black is here with a two-men team; his manager and back vocals.

"It's not about the money. I'm here for my fans, to absorb the culture and see the economy. If I came with a bigger crew, we may over charge too much. Nevertheless, I am excited, even more than you are," he said.

This was his approach to gaining the heart of his fan base in Europe.

He said fans began interacting with him as soon as they got word of his performance.

He promised it will be Jamaican flavour tonight and more.

"It will be unsupportable. Very different from other dancehall artists you may have seen," he said.

The Cosmopolitan has sold at least 800 tickets already and will be selling at the gate tonight as well.

"If you want to be lucky, be here before 9pm," said the club's General Manager, Martin Sherry.

Charley Black will be in the country for only under 24 hours.

But he is confident he will return to PNG in the future.
