Band brings back positive vibes

PNG's newest Contemporary Fusion Band Soundcheck from West New Britain is all about bringing back positivity with its recent release “Friend’s For Life”.

The song hook goes:

"I'll be your true friend

I'll be your good friend

I'll be your friend for life"

Written by Allan Nuabi over twenty years ago, the song was finally recorded in the second week of February at Radio Kimbe's production studio.

It is timely in this era where violence is prevalent in the country, the song dwells on the positive rather than the negatives.

In a brief statement to this newsroom, Soundcheck band stated that with the alarming rate of family and sexual violence afflicting our society, we should affirm our commitment to each other by saying, I will be your friend. Therefore I will not subject you to violence of any sort.

Vocalist and saxophonist Tarzzy Metta has only recently returned to the music industry. In a previous interview, he stressed that what he did is not for fame – the same principal acknowledged by the band.

“Soundcheck is not in the business for a rating in the popularity countdown programs but acknowledges that fame is a primary by-product of music.

“For the band music is like a quest that you are on for your whole life. What we perceive to be attainable turns out to be relative as soon as we get there. And the journey continues until we die. Even then we end up making music on the other side.”

This single features Tarzzy Metta on vocals and saxophone, Ernest Nuabi on guitars and vocals, Allan Nuabi on bass, Albert Nuabi on piano and keyboards and Freddy Nuabi on drums. Guest vocalist is Nathalie Metta, who is a member of the UPNG Tertiary Students Christian Fellowship band. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Allan Nuab.
