Pasin Tumbuna Festival tomorrow

This year’s Pasin Tumbuna Festival, set to be hosted tomorrow (Sept 24) is set to be a fascinating twist from the standard festival.

With the focus firmly on traditional skills and knowledge, the event will showcase the skill and expertise involved with traditional crafts including carvings, basket weaving, bilum making as well as showcase the preparation and making of traditional foods, bilas preparations and others.

This will be the second year that the Port Moresby Nature Park has put on the event with the support and backing of the NCDC and the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority.

Last year the event received rave reviews from tourism representatives and the community for its unique way of showcasing PNG culture.

Nature Park general manager, Michelle McGeorge, stated: “The day is a cultural celebration of skills, traditions and cultures that are at risk of being lost with the pressures of modernisation.”

There will be lots of opportunities for the community to learn and interact with participants with activities, games, food tasting and demonstrations planned at getting guests involved.

Port Moresby Nature Park encourages all Moresby residents to attend the day, particularly city children who may have lost connection with traditional culture.

Also to be held at the Nature Park on Sunday, September 24, is the 2017 Lukim PNG Nau Tourism Expo, which will see over 34 tourism-based organisations including hoteliers, tour operators, airlines and others all showcasing their products and services.

This event is a great opportunity to meet all the major tourism players across PNG and plan your next holiday getaway with some great discounts and offers during the event.
