Polye calls on O’Neill to tell the truth on cash flow issue

Opposition Leader Don Polye have called on Prime Minister Peter O’Neill to really tell the people of this nation the truth about the cash flow issues.

Polye made the call today at a media conference in Port Moresby. He said the recent acquisition of the controversial land deal by two senior ministers and other departmental heads have proven that the country was not financially broke.

"How could you say the country is facing cash flow problem when millions of Kina have been used by ministers in  illegal and corrupt ways?" Polye asked.

He said O'Neill must be transparent in decisions and not 'passing buck' to ministers.

Polye added that if the two ministers were ordered by O'Neill to step aside, why can't he also step down.

He said the prime minister was also referred to the Ombudsman and the Fraud Squad for investigations but did not step aside.

"Why blaming the ministers for the decision you are also involved in?"

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill ordered the Minister for Defence Fabian Pok and State Enterprises Minister William Duma to step aside on Monday pending investigations into the controversial land deal at Manu Manu in the Central Province.

The other five departmental heads who will also be suspended depending on the outcome of the Cabinet decision today includes Secretary for Lands, Secretary for Defence, Valuer General, Kumul Petroleum Holdings Managing Director and the Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited Managing director.

The controversial land deal issue was raised in Parliament by Opposition members last week which resulted in this Cabinet's decisions.
