No District Court sitting on NCD polling day

There will be no District Court sitting at Waigani, Boroko and Town on Tuesday, June 27, in the National Capital District.

All matters that are supposed to return to court tomorrow will either be adjourned to Wednesday or a later date, which will be advised at the respective District Court registries.

Police Prosecutors who are responsible for prosecuting cases in the district courts will be engaged in the election operations across the city, as residents go to the polls to cast their votes.

Loop PNG confirmed with the Police Prosecution office at Boroko today.

In the National Court, cases will be heard as per the discretion of the respective judges while Supreme Court sitting this week will continue, including on Tuesday, as set by the court registry.

NCD metropolitan superintendent Ben Turi said at the officials and security forces meet at the Rita Flynn complex on Sunday that most of his officers engaged in the elections operations will have to be at the camping site a day prior to polling.

This has not been done in past elections for NCD.

About 1,500 security personnel will be out in full force tomorrow.
