Maru confident of PNC’s rule

A jubilant Richard Maru is confident the People's National Congress Party will form the new government after the completion of the 2017 National Election.

Maru was declared last night at Yangoru Station as member elect for Yangoru-Saussia District in East Sepik Province.

The PNC candidate, after the elimination round, was declared around 9pm by Returning Officer Martin Wana.

Maru, speaking after the declaration formalities, assured his people that the development projects started in his first term in Parliament will be completed.

He said PNC will form government and will not forget the people of Yangoru-Saussia.

According to the Returning Officer, Maru collected 16,264 votes and National Alliance candidate Peter Wararu finished in second spot with 9,696 votes.

Wararu is the former MP who was unseated by Maru in the 2012 National Elections.

The 10th Parliament will be Maru's second term.
