No liquor restrictions: Manning

Police Commissioner and Controller, David Manning, has confirmed that there are no restrictions on the sale of liquor nationwide.

Manning made this statement following queries from the public whether there were liquor restrictions in place.

“To assist with government response to COVID-19 during the State of Emergency certain restrictions were placed on the sale of liquor. However, when the SOE ended we reverted back to the normal situation. Let me make it clear that I have not issued any control measures on the sale of liquor under the National Pandemic Act 2020.

“With that being said I want to appeal to our citizens to drink alcohol responsibly. We had five deaths in the National Capital District last weekend and most I am told were alcohol related. If the situation warrants and upon advise from the Technical Advisory Council measures relating to alcohol sales may be put in place,” Manning said.
