You are one, great nation: Planetshakers leader

“PNG you are a nation of many languages, you are a nation of big opportunity but I want you to understand that you are one nation, and you are a great nation.”

This was what Planetshakers leader Pastor Neil Smith said after the Repentance Day program at Parliament this morning.

The Pentecostal Christian adults and youth movement that is also a church band, Planetshakers, will be performing this evening at the Sir John Guise stadium in Port Moresby.

Their performance will be part of the grand celebration program and part of today’s National Repentance Day program that is being organised by the Body-of-Christ.

In what will be an evening of songs, dance and praise, the Planetshakers are expected to shake the stadium with excited Christian youths from around the city. The program will start at 7pm.

From Melbourne, Australia, the band has been in the country for over a week now, visiting high schools, technical colleges and even the Bomana prison to talk to youths.

Pastor Smith said they visited 12 schools this week and to culminate it with the National Prayer and Repentance Day is incredible.

“We are spreading the message of belief, and it’s called the belief campaign,” Pastor Smith said.

“The band is a Christian band that has travelled the world for many years. It spends 30 weeks in a year on the road and made a decision this year to come to Papua New Guinea.

“The band tonight will be on stage together with another band from England.

“We’re expecting a big crowd tonight and it’s a pleasure to be in your country.”

The band was founded by Russell Evans – Senior Pastor of Planetshakers, in February 2004 with his wife, Sam.

Sam Evans is also a Senior Pastor of Planetshakers. She is the lead vocalist in the band.
