World class platform for Solwara 1

The floating of the Production Support Vessel (PSV) for the Solwara1 Project on New Ireland is hailed a significant milestone.

This is from Nautilus Chief Executive Officer, Mike Johnston.

The PSV is to be used by Nautilus and its PNG partner, Eda Kopa (Solwara) Limited, for its seafloor operations planned at the Solwara 1 Project site.

Johnston said “Nautilus’ objective remains to develop the world's first commercial high grade seafloor copper-gold mine and launch the seafloor resource production industry.”

Nautilus in partnership with the Fujian Mawei Shipyard Ltd (FMSL) and Marine Assets Corporation (MAC) worked on two previous PSV before their kost recent which will be used in the Solwara 1 project.

The PSV provides a stable platform for operations using world-class dynamic positioning technologies to ensure it stays on location at Solwara 1irrespective of wind and wave conditions.

It is designed for use in offshore construction and sea floor mining.
