Women’s U20 World Cup squad named

A squad of 28 players has been named to undergo a final training camp for the 2016 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in Port Moresby.

The FIFA U20 World Cup is scheduled for November 13 to December 3 this year.

The squad will move into Goroka next month for the U20 National Team selection process.

PNG Football Association congratulated the 28 players in a statement for being selected.

Ten of the 28 players were part of the senior side that lost to New Zealand in the first leg of the Olympic Qualifier at the PNGFA Academy in Lae recently.

The World Cup is only 10 months away and PNGFA stated that we are set and ready to host the other 15 nations that will be here for the tournament.

Canada, Mexico, USA, Brazil and Venezuela rounded off their qualification late last year, joining France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Ghana, Nigeria, New Zealand and host PNG.

The selected players are: Lace Kunei, Eunice Dambui, Olive Upaupa, Cynthia Stanis, Jacobeth Bani, Sheilla Gubag, Leah Noah, Gloria Balamus, Gloria Laeli, Yvonne Gabong, Joy Tsuga, Marie Kaipu, Nicollette Ageva, Tetoria Robert, Ramona Quintina Padio, Anna Bulum, Younicher Wablasu, Desleigh Darius, Michaella Kurabi, Hegga Gerald, Elien Manup, Lavina Hola, Rosewitha Puso, Christo Mato, Branchley Hamipa, Esmeralda Waipo, Margaret Joseph and Belinda Giada.

The players will need to confirm their attendance with PNGFA as this will assist with other preparations, including making sure their educational requirements are fulfilled.
