WNB rolls out ALESCO payroll system

Public servants salaries and other entitlements in West New Britain will now be processed in the province.

The Department of Personal Management recently in the province to roll out the Alesco Payroll system.

Deputy Secretary of the department Dr Agnes Friday said it is a milestone achievement for the province.

She said the Alesco automated system is one of the four components of the Human Resource connect programs that are being rolled out to the provinces.

She said the second component is data cleansing and for this program DPM is working in partnership with the Finance Department to ensure that all data for the provinces are cleansed and updated.

Dr Friday said the third program is for a structure to be in place to enable the correct establishment in the system so that one person is paid against that one position.

The fourth component is for the training of officers in the provinces who are responsible for the efficient and effective working for the components.

Dr Friday said this is to improve on time theft, performance and productivity so public servants deliver the outcomes as required

Meanwhile, Provincial Administrator Williamson Hosea said the setting up of the Alesco payroll system in the Province would result in the long delays and batches from provinces going missing that had caused lots of frustrations.

He said this would also cut down on the high cost of travels to Port Moresby and bring efficiency into the provincial setup.
