West Sepik set to go back to the regional polls

The 397 police officers engaged in the West Sepik polling are set to be deployed to the 582 polling stations across the province by today.

Speaking with Loop PNG the Sandaun police commander Robert Gesa says that while the polling was deferred due to allowance issues for his personnel, the officers  were now set to go.

Gesa says that there are also 6 officers including the Momase Divisional commander Nema Mondiai who are ready  to assist with the operations.

Meantime the 40 officers from Wewak  committed from Wewak will come in to provide  support to Nuku, Lumi and Aitapei.

He says that the personnel will be engaged alongside members of the 101 polling teams that have as of yesterday taken up their post. The last are to be flown out to Telifomin today.

 According to the West Sepik returning officer Kila Ralai the 582 polling stations will see two teams of 25 polling teams operate in Telifomin and Aitape Lumi, while 17 teams will be based at Nuku with Vanimo/Green to see the largest polling group  of 34 teams carrying out duties there.

Polling is scheduled to run for 21 days wrapping up on the 5th of August .
