Village school prepares for Diamond Jubilee

A primary school in the Gabadi area of Kairuku in the Central Province is raising money to stage its Diamond Jubilee celebrations set for 21 November.

Pinu Primary School in Pinu village is running fundraising activities as part of its preparations leading up to the big day.

The school students and village community aim to raise K5, 000 to stage the event.

They held a fundraising event this weekend and raised K2, 500 through selling food, playing volleyball games, dancing and raffle tickets.

Teacher Linda Sileh said they had just three weeks left to prepare for the anniversary and the students were  already practising their various activities for the day.

There will be traditional dancing, songs and drama presentation on the day including the main activity of unveiling of a monument and launching of EQUITV.

The students and village community are excited and looking forward to the event.

The school was first established in 1955 and currently enrols 109 students including 16 grade eight students who will be sitting for their exams on 2 November.
