UPNG offices will be open to serve students, assures Dr Mann

The University of Papua New Guinea’s administration office should be open to serve students.

This was the assurance given today to Loop PNG by UPNG acting chancellor, Professor Nicholas Mann.

His statement was based on reports that students were not permitted to enter the main Waigani campus to hand in their resumption forms last week.

The students revealed that Uniforce guards turned them away at the main gate, advising them to return on August 29 (next Monday).

However, Dr Mann told Loop PNG that: “They should bring in their forms to the offices. The offices should be open to attend to their queries”. Students were not supposed to be turned away.

He said students will officially move into campus on August 27.

“On the 27th the facilities will open – the mess and the dormitories,” explained Dr Mann.

Meanwhile, the School of Natural and Physical Sciences released a notice outlining procedures for completing the resumption form.

It advised students to download the form from the UPNG website or come in person to the school office and collect a copy.

“Complete the resumption form by filling in the appropriate sections correctly. Any mistake done to the form will render your resumption null and void,” the school warned.

“Bring the form to the school office in person and have it signed by the executive officer.

“You then take the form to Student Services and have the officers process your forms to complete the process.”
