Top of the table clash in Champions League

The National Soccer League (NSL) Champions League will see a top of the table clash between MRDC Hekari United FC and premiers Lae City Dwellers this weekend.

It will be a replay of the 2015 season grand final when the two rivals clash in game four of the Champions League at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium in Lae on Saturday.

Both teams remain unbeaten in the Champions League after three rounds.

Dwellers have beefed up confidence after thrashing Rapatona FC 5-0 in Port Moresby in game three last weekend.

Hekari won’t have the home ground advantage but boasts the strength of players from the national team. Hekari dominates the 25 member national team with 12 players.

These include Ismael Pole, Felix Komolong, Koriak Upaiga, David Muta, Wira Wama, Papalau Awele and Tommy Semmy.

Dwellers will be banking on Ronald Warisan, Valentine Nelson, Japhet Tiampo, Michael Foster, Raymond Gunemba and Nigel Dabinyaba who have also scored a place in the national team.

In Port Moresby, PKA Rapatona FC will take on Welgris Morobe United FC at Bisini Soccer Grounds.

This match will be telecast live on EMTV. Both games kick off at 2pm.

After six weeks of competition, the top team in this champion’s league will be the minor premier and scores a place in the TNSL 2015-2016 season grand final and also qualifies for the OFC Champions League.

The third and fourth placing will not be played but the teams will be awarded the prize money as per the national league point’s ladder.
