Tigers claw Eagles down

The Lae Snax Tigers claws out the Mt. Hagen Nga Eagles in the first game of the second Digicel cup elimination match at the Sir John Guise stadium today.

Leading 18-12 at the break with three converted tries by the tigers and two from the Eagles it was any body’s game for the taking in the second half.

When Eagles soar through the tigers defense with a quick unconverted try in the opening minutes of the first half, which changed the game to look the other way with the scores at 18-16.

But with a torpedo kick that left Eagles fullback fumbled the ball over, the tigers retaliated scoring their fourth converted try of the game to lead 24-16.

However, eagles could not settle as they set in to minimize the lead with just five on the clock before fulltime for a 24-22 match point. Tigers now sits at the top awaiting grand final day.
