Thomas takes the lead in The Voice Inc

The Voice Inc., has announced the appointment of Barbra Thomas as its new executive director.

Thomas takes over the reigns from cofounder, Serena Sumanop after nine years of being at the helm.  Thomas’ journey with TVI began eight years ago, while a student at the University of Papua New Guinea.

An Environmental Science graduate, Thomas served with a contractor to the LNG before giving up her job to come and serve as a fulltime employee and Programs Manager in 2013.

Thomas when speaking about leading The Voice Inc. said: “It is my belief that as a people, we need to start building a collective voice around the issues challenging us today and take action were we can.”

“It will take an army of people who are united in heart and sight to shift the dominant cultures that are crippling our country. There is an undercurrent that is causing people both young and old, to be restless and wanting to shift to a place where we can start influencing tangible change in society.”

“I see a society where it will no longer be defined by the corruption, poverty, violence, and inequality we see around us, but rather, a society that is serious about making changes to pursue sustainability into the future. It is the challenge of this generation, to champion this shift.”

As Thomas takes on her new role, she looks forward to making connections and establishing new friendships to strategically build resilient communities.

The Voice Inc. currently runs its Leadership Development Program at the University of Papua New Guinea, the PNG University of Technology and the University of Goroka, under its Clean Generation Campaign.
