Teachers encouraged to focus on values

Teachers throughout the country are encouraged to focus on the development of ethical and moral values in schools for themselves and students.

Teaching Service Commission chairman Baran Sori said teachers need to re-focus to help and mold students to become good citizens.

This must be done through teaching and the way they conduct themselves in the school and community as role models for students to emulate.

Sori urged the 52 000 teachers nationwide to make a small positive impact on a student or group of students in your school.

He said that by doing so collectively throughout the country, you can make enormous differences to help shape “PNG to become a Smart, Wise, Fair, Healthy and Happy Society,” as stated in Vision 2050.

Teachers resumed the academic year this week and students will resume classes next week Monday, February 1.
