Strapping course proves educational and fun

A successful strapping course hosted by High Performance Sport Papua New Guinea proved not only educational but fun.

This is the third program designed for sporting enthusiast on the basics of managing sport injuries on the ankle, knee and shoulder using proper sporting tapes.

HPS PNG Sports Science Manager Simon Morris and his team did a wonderful job of providing workable solutions for trainers with practical demonstrations and theory work.

“The strapping course really achieved its objectives on the weekend.

“We had a very good number of participants who were very enthusiastic and contributed very well to the course.

“There were people from all walks of life and backgrounds who had different reasons for attending the course.

“Athletes made up the bulk of participants this time around however there were also a good number of physiotherapists, coaches and managers,” Morris said.

One young Physiotherapist travelled all the way from Buka to attend the course so she could take her new skill set back to her hospital and community.

“We had very good feedback from the participants and they all walked away with a good understanding of sports taping as well as the valuable practical skill set of being able to tape the ankle, knee and shoulder joints,” Morris added.

He encouraged those interested to like the organizations Facebook page High Performance Sport PNGSF to keep updated on future courses run through their various Centres of Excellence with plenty planned for 2017.
