Stephens commends young Somare for brave move

The engagement of Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare’s daughter Dulciana Somare Brass with the Pangu Pati as the strategic advisor has been praised by many people.

Many have commended her for making the brave move to the party.

Transparency International PNG (TIPNG) chairman Lawrence Stephens has also commended Ms Somare for the brave move.

“From my few encounters with this young woman, she is very much an independent thinker and doer who will create her own footsteps worthy of others following.

“Of course she has the heritage of being part of a family itself part of the political process in PNG but this seemed to have strengthened her own efforts to find her own path,” he said.

“I look forward to her future contributions as herself, not simply a daughter of another person who made his own choices and became a huge influence on PNG and the region.

“When Sam Tei Abal first became involved in politics, people kept speaking of him as Sir Tei Abal's son and soon learned that Sam was very much his own man.

“So with Dulciana, we should see a person who is very much her own independent woman and look forward to her next contributions to PNG and the region in whatever role she takes on,” says Stephens.

Meanwhile, Ms Somare said she is happy to be part of the party her father formed during the pre-colonial period to gain independence for this great nation.

She said her move to join the party was a blessing to her family as she wanted to continue her father’s legacy.
