St Johns Ambulance see changes

St John Ambulance has seen changes to its operations in the last 12 months.

The changes include:

  • A new national ambulance control centre to ensure effective and smooth coordination of the ambulance fleet;
  • The establishment of the St. John Ambulance PNG 2016-2020 Strategic Plan and Direction;
  • Contracts with corporate entities to deliver first aid training  and first aid kits, and;
  • Establishment of new business and management strategies to guide the organisation forward.

These changes were highlighted by President of the National St John Council of PNG, Governor General Sir Michael Ogio during St Johns’ annual charity ball last Saturday.

While thanking those present for the fundraising ball, he also said that in recent times, it has become increasingly expensive to operate emergency ambulance services.

“The St. John Ambulance currently needs to increase its ambulance fleet to meet the growing need of the community and replace its older ambulances.

“The St. John Ambulance depends on the support and generous contributions from the business community and other members of society to run its humanitarian services.

“Support from businesses and individuals helps meet the void, ensuring that St. John can continue to meet the needs of the community.

“This year’s fundraising event is focused on improving the mobility of our citizens, particularly those who need ambulance services.

“I wish to acknowledge the business houses and individuals who have in one way or another supported the work of St John Ambulance through the years. Your assistance has enabled the St John Ambulance to continue its services and for that we are truly grateful.”
