SP comes good with K250, 000 for PNG Games

SP Brewery have given their support to the 7th BSP PNG Game with a K250,000 sponsorship package.

The money was presented today to the Host Organizing Committee for the Games to ensure the two week event is a success.

SP Brewery’s Managing Director, Stan Joyce said the company was excited to be part of the biggest local sporting event in the country with participation from the 22 provinces.

“SP Brewery is a staunch supporter and promoter of sports in the country as underscored by its long-term association with the different sporting codes in the country to expose and develop hidden sporting talents amongst Papua New Guineans.

“In supporting the games, we want to make sure that people who choose to drink must do so responsibly without causing problems to the games and to bring law and order into disrepute,” said Joyce.

Joyce added that SP Brewery has undertaken a campaign to educate people about the laws that prohibit drinking in public places and drinking on moving vehicles that attract immediate penalties, including arrest, fine and imprisonment.

“The company continues to support the games as long as everyone plays and enjoy the games in their various Provincial colours in true spirit of sportsmanship,” said Joyce.

In receiving the cheque, West New Britain Governor, Sasindran Muthuvel thanked SP Brewery for contributing to one of the biggest nation building events in PNG.

“For the people of West New Britain this will have a great impact and we are trying to make it a win-win situation for all of us and we are happy that SP Brewery has supported the Games,” said Muthuvel.

In preparation for the Games, Governor Muthuvel confirmed that over K20 million has been used to build additional classrooms and dormitories in major schools in the 4 Local Level Government areas in the province.

The 7th BSP PNG Games will be held from 24th November to the 10th of December in West New Britain.
