The National Alliance Party (NA) says the resignation of Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare is an internal party matter which will be discussed when leader Patrick Pruaitch returns from Peru in South America.
Sir Michael offered his resignation last week to make way for NA to distance itself from the referral of Prime Minister Peter O’Neill he made to the Ombudsman Commission recently.
Party general secretary Joyce Grant says the party has received the letter however the party will not make any further comments on the matter.
She says Pruaitch will return over the weekend and a meeting will be convened next week.
