The soldiers kept bashing his head after he fell – grieving mom

The grieving parents of a school boy beaten to death by PNG Defense Force soldiers in Port Moresby in July are demanding a speedy end to investigations by authorities and the Defense Force.

As they wait, the PNGDF is yet to release a statement on progress of the investigations so far.

Thomas and Antonia Yinu, want all the soldiers involved in the beating of their son to be arrested and charged.

To date, four have been identified, arrested and charged and trials have commenced.

Defense Commander, Gilbert Toropo condemned the actions of the soldiers and promised to deal quickly with the attackers.

The Yinus say he has since gone quiet about the case and want to know if the others involved in the mob attack will be arrested.

“The army must take ownership of this murder and not leave any stone unturned,” Antonia Yinu told LOOP PNG.

“They robbed me of a son and my other children of a brother,” she wept.

“Eye witness accounts say the soldiers were relentless in their attack on the child. Even after he fell, they kept bashing my son’s head.”

He was went into a coma and succumbed to his injuries last week.

A post mortem is being planned for this week.
