Samsung smart clothes connect your body to an app

Stop everything: the future is here and it's in the form of smart, wearable clothes that connect us to apps.

Samsung has featured its wearable tech Smart Suit at CES 2016, which includes a button that puts your phone into "do not disturb" mode and can share contact details, getting rid of the need for business cards to be exchanged (via Mashable).

The technology isn't particularly groundbreaking - it's just an NFC tag that has been sewn into a suit - but the difference the Smart Suit offers is being part of a group of fabrics that don't look out of place.

The suit is joined by the Welt smart belt and the Body Compass 2.0 athletic wear, which consists of a tank top and trousers that both feature a bottle top-sized metal nub to hide a processor as well as a battery to power the sensors in the clothes.

But while including the sensors in the material may allow the athletic wear to measure heart rate, stance and body fat levels, it does also make the clothes non-machine washable.

The Body Compass comes with an app and provides real-time analysis of your workout, even advising you to correct your form and start working out again if you've taken too long to rest.

The feedback from the app is provided back through to your phone but there are also hopes that sending the information through to your smart watch will also be feasible.

Other smart clothing accessories include the Welt or Wellness Belt, which detects when you've eaten a big meal and automatically changes to give your waist more room, and the Sol bag, which is a sleeve with solar panels about the size of a laptop - an easy way to keep any gadgets charged up.
