Ramu NiCo steps in to fix Madang road

Recent heavy rain experienced along the Ramu-Madang highway has caused so much difficulty for the travelling public and business houses especially between the Usino-Madang portions of the highway.

On Tuesday Feb 9, a container truck capsised at the Iguruwe portion of the highway within the Usino-Bundi electorate when driving through the slippery and muddy road.

That portion of the road experienced a slight landslip due to the base clay foundation and water logged soil build-up.

Ramu NiCo’s Kurumbukari Mine located 44km away from the scene timely dispatched a frontend loader and a dump truck with excavator under the coordination of the 135km Slurry Pipeline department and fixed the road immediately.

This stretch is a vital route for business in Madang. Ramu NiCo is actively involved in fixing the Ramu-Madang portion of the highway in recent years due to lack of immediate attention from responsible state agencies.

Ramu NiCo and other business houses that create job opportunities for locals and pay tax to the government are hardly hit while the general public are denied a comfortable and safe ride when the road conditions are badly affected.
