A group of men numbering several hundreds stormed Banz town and started burning all the houses and damaged properties worth hundreds of thousands of kina last Friday.
Eyewitness Ruth Bii, an employee of the Jiwaka Provincial Administration, told Loop news this morning that arrangements had been made for the neighbouring people, individuals and communities in Jiwaka to support the affected people with food, clothes and other basic survival items while they are in the care center.
Bii said a team has been dispatched to the eastern border to start making the appeal on the plight of the affected victims. The team will end in the western border.
A leader in Banz has also called on the provincial government to assist where it can to address the needs of the people.
