POM Black edge out Madang 4-3

The Port Moresby Black side got the better of Madang, beating them 4-3 in the first game of the women’s matches on day three of the 2015 national softball championships.

At the end of the first inning, it was a hit by Port Moresby’s Rose Ire that brought home two runners to give her team a 2-1 lead.

Madang sneaked in a run in the second inning to level scores but the Port Moresby girls maintained their lead with two more runs scored by Margaret Parom and Claire Wut.

A run to Tenisa Keveu in the next inning gave Madang some hope of stealing the win.

But the Port Moresby girls tightened up their infield play to make the final out at first base to win the game.

In the other women’s matches for today, Port Moresby Gold ran all over Buluminski with an easy 8-2 win.

The woes continued for Buluminski who lost their second game, going down to Madang 12-2.

In the men’s matches for today, Buluminski  edged out Wewak 3-2 and then later backed this up with a 6-1 win over Madang Fox.

In the upset of the day, East New Britain Softball League (ENBSL) defeated the Madang Kings 6-1.
