Police stabbed me then urinated in my mouth – Victim’s aunt

The woman who was in the company of her nephews when one was killed on Thursday night says she was urinated on after she resisted a policeman.

Londe Pindia was seated in the back of the CRV her late nephew was driving when they were chased by police.

She says after her nephew Nelson Rema was shot dead and the other Private James Beno wounded a policeman tried to drag her away from the car and make her lie down.

I fought off a policeman which resulted in me being wounded with a kitchen knife and ordered to lie down on the ground, Pindia says.

She told reporters she was ordered to lie down and open her mouth.

This policeman urinated into my mouth and told me to drink it, Pindia recalls.

She resisted the policeman because she feared he was going to rape her.

Pindia also said after shooting, the policemen spat and urinated on their bodies.

The incident on Thursday night sparked retaliation by soldiers who say they were looking for their comrade who was missing after Rema was shot dead.

Soldiers told LOOP PNG they started looking for private Bono at 9:30 and found him at 3:30 am Friday morning at the emergency area of Port Moresby General Hospital.

Bono who is suffering from bullet wounds alleges police had taken him in their vehicle and tortured him until early hours of Friday morning.

Soldiers say they retaliated on Friday morning because their comrade could have died from loss of blood.

The families of the late Rema are calling for police to investigate events of the night and have those responsible arrested and charged.
