Central Police have ruled out one of the three men taken into police custody and flown in from Efogi as a suspect involved in the alleged attack on the two tourists along the Kokoda Track.
Central Police Commander Laimo Asi says that upon questioning it was established that one of the man has been ruled out with the other two still being questioned.
Asi says that the two suspect are still in custody and undergoing interrogation by investigators.
Meanwhile, Asi says a medical report which will form part of the investigations into the incident has yet to be furnished by police.
There has been widespread speculations into the alleged rape and assault of the two victims, which Asi refused to comment on, adding that investigations are still progressing.
