Police report major incidents in NCD

Four separate major incidents were reported over the past week in the Nation’s Capital District.

On Monday August 1 between 11: 30pm and 12 midnight at the Goldie Training Depot, a woman was sexually abused by a known suspect who is an ex PNG Defence Force member.

The suspect while here for his final entitlements was alleged to have lured the woman with some money before sexually penetrating her.

The ex-soldier has gone into hiding and police investigations are still ongoing.

On August 2 and 3, between 12 midday and 1 pm at Gerehu Stage 1, a female adult from Sopas Village, Wabag, Enga Province reported to police that her 16-year-old daughter was out drinking with suspect- a male adult, Andrew Eben from Nad Village, Wabag.

The mother believes that the suspect allegedly raped her daughter when she fell asleep after drinking.

Police say investigations are still going on and arrest is yet to be made.

In another incident, a female police officer at Badili Police Station alleges that on Saturday August 6, between 1pm and 2pm, a male adult aged 45 by the name of Jimmy Alua was arrested and locked up for stealing.

According to police he was locked up in the police station cells but somehow escaped and allegedly aided by some senior police men and without proper bail.

He was later apprehended again at Kaugere and was formally arrested, charged and detained at Boroko Police Station now waiting for his appearance in court.

On Sunday  August 7, an armed robbery and murder took place between 7 am and 7:30 am at Manu Auto Port, Korobosea.

An adult male, Simon Islam alleges that about six unknown suspects entered the Good Link Supermarket company premises and held up three men.

The suspects held up the three men, two men from Bangladesh and one National from Lake Kopiago, Hela Province.

The suspects escaped with K20,000 in cash and flex cards worth K10, 000 and shot dead the national while the other two sustained serious injuries on their bodies.

Investigations are still going on to find out who the suspects are.

Lastly, following up on an armed robbery at Puma Energy Service Station at Konedobu, four male crime suspects namely, Heni Savi adult male from Baruni and Morobe, Samuel Pala Kassman, age 34 form Karawa Village, Rigo Central Province, Jacob Wapai, age 37 from East New Britain Province and Paul Paulus, age 36 from Buge Village, Lorengau, Manus Province plus four more were all apprehended, formally arrested, charged and detained at the Boroko Police Station and are now awaiting the appearance in court.
