Police pursue Manus rape claim with Aussies

Police in Manus continue to investigate the alleged rape of a local woman by three expatriate men at the Regional Processing Centre in Lombrum.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Alex N’drasel says a request for the men’s return from Australia has been made however it is up to the government to ensure they come back to answer to a crime they are alleged to have committed.

N’drasel says according to their report the woman was drinking with the men at their accommodation area when she was given two pills shaped like capsules.

He says the woman claims she immediately fell asleep after taking the pills.

The three men are said to be employees of Wilson Security, the company providing security services at the asylum seeker centre.

N’drasel says the investigators will take two weeks to complete their work and a report of their findings will be sent to the Police Commissioner.
