Police commander phone numbers made public for complaints

NCD Metropolitan Police Commander Ben Turi has announced that people should start calling the police station commanders of their suburbs with their complaints about police.

Turi tells PNG Loop that he had had a meeting with all his police station commanders who have been advised that their numbers will now be made public so that the public in their areas of operation can start calling in with police issues.

Even with matters to do with police discipline, Turi says that the public must ring the station commanders or the Moresby Superintendent of Operations Philip Kulaum or himself.

For Gerehu, PSC Fred Tundu can be called on 72918412, PSC Waigani Michai Yosman can be called on 73473321 and for Gordons, PSC Joseph Sale can be called on 71000672.

For residents at Hohola, call 72148507 to speak to PSC Benjamin Kua, while PSC 6mile, Fred Bare can be called on 70253374, Boroko PSC Brian Kombe can be reached on 71934549.

The airport PSC, Robert Wane can be reached on 72780163, Badili’s PSC, Tony Kavan’s number is 71710039, while town’s PSC, Sengi Laki can be reached on 73574194.

Turi says that his Superintendent Operations Philip Kuluam can be reached on 71727825, NCD Central police commander Sylvester Kalaut can be called on 70648295 while the Met Supt says that he can be reached on 72010056.

He says that with all these numbers now made public, the public must report to the respective police station commanders if they require any help or are met by ill-disciplined police personnel.

Turi says that he aims to make the NCD police more accountable for their actions through a more centralised and transparent command and control.

The public is also being advised to record all police vehicle numbers and descriptions if they are seen to be carrying drunk or rowdy officers.

Turi says that “enough is enough and that it is time the police start acting like law enforcers and not law breakers’’.

He says that the public must also hold the police accountable for their actions.
