Police boss praises Uniforce training

Acting Deputy Police Commissioner and Chief of Operations Jim Andrews congratulated the Vice Chancellor of the University of Papua New Guinea Professor Mellam for raising the standard of training of its security officers.

Deputy Commissioner Andrews said this on Thursday during the graduation ceremony for the security guards attached with the University's Uniforce.

The guards completed a Security Training Level 2 Course conducted by OSS-Orogen Ltd.

Andrews said: "You have realised the importance of training and the need to raise the level of professionalism and ethical standards within the industry.

He told the guards that they provide a very critical service in crime prevention and that their contribution is appreciated.

He also urged the graduating security guards to do better as security officers.

"You can make this as an ordinary job or a professional full time career. You can stand out and make a positive difference within the life of staff and students here at the campus or you can choose not to. The choice and the will power is is in your hands," Andrews told the graduating security guards.
