Police arrest suspects on BSP bank robbery

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Police Commissioner, Frank Prendergast has confirmed to local Journalists Thursday this week that Police have arrested one additional person in relation to the Auki BSP bank robbery in Malaita province last month

He said the arrest brings the number of suspects arrested to three.

He told the media investigation remains very active.

The police boss said, they are looking for numbers of other people who they believe are also involved.

“I cannot say too much on that because matter is subject to investigation and also before the court,” he said.

The robbery which stunned Malaitans resulted in three armed masked robbers escaping with more than $200,000.

Meanwhile, Prendergast said on Tuesday, Guadalcanal Police carried out some searches on residential premises in Sale village on Guadalcanal Plains area and they arrested three individuals who alleged being involved in the production of kwaso.

He told local reporters during the same raid they discovered a marijuana garden by the residence of 200 plants uprooted and taken to the police station.

These three people are currently being held at Police custody and equipment for producing kwaso was confiscated.

In the meantime, Police also arrested a male suspect from Malango area near GPPOL for aggravating assault.

He said victim was conveyed to the National Referral Hospital for treatment and suspect currently in Police custody.
