PNGRFL board thanks sponsors and Government

The PNGRFL Board has applauded the Government of PNG for their constant support in Rugby League together with the family of sponsors during the SP Hunters 2016 season launch yesterday.

This has changed the level of Rugby from a park activity into a semi-professional and now professional level.

We would like to thank the Prime Minister of Peter O’Neil and the Minister for sports Justin Tkatchenko for working together with the rugby league family of sponsors to give the opportunity for our young elite athletes in rugby league to play at that level, says PNGRFL Chairman Sandis Tsaka.

“We initially started the PNG SP Hunters team as a footy team to participate in the Intrust Super Cup but now it’s not just a footy team anymore, it belongs to the 7 million people of PNG,” Tsaka said.

“The results of the last two years,-we went into a game not knowing where and what we were getting into but when the boys won their first game of the competition against Redcliff in 2014, it gave us that right and showed us that we can compete with the best and win the game,” he said.

Representing the government at the launch, Gulf Givernir, Havila Kavo thanked the family of sponsors for the support and reaffiirmed continued Government ting support.
