PNG U20 soccer girls take part in Walk for Life

The PNG U20 women’s soccer team took a break from training in Goroka to participate in the Walk for Life and help spread the message about healthy living.

The team has been training at the National Sporting Institute (NSI) since last year and have actively taken part in community programs in the Eastern Highlands Province.

U20 Coach, Lisa Cole said she had heard about the Walk for Life in Port Moresby.

She said she was honoured that the NCD Governor, Powes Parkop had asked the team to participate in the Walk for Life held in Goroka recently.

“It was a privilege to for us to join the Governor and people. I enjoyed seeing the country as we made our way down to town and was impressed again by the people I met and talked with on the walk,” said Cole.

She added the team were more than happy to part of a program that encouraged and inspired young people to live a positive and healthy lifestyle.

The team is planning to travel to South Korea for a friendly game next month as part of their preparations for this year’s FIFA U20 World Cup.
