PNG takes on Fiji in hockey

The PNG men’s hockey team will take on Fiji this afternoon at the Sir John Guise Outdoor or BSP Stadium in what will be an entertaining match as the old rivals meet for the first time on the pitch.

PNG will be under pressure to save face after a devastating loss to Vanuatu last night as they take on the Oceania Hockey Federation champions Fiji.

PNG’s men and women’s hockey teams are both ranked second to Fiji in terms of Oceania hockey.

The PNG men will also be out in full force against the Fijians after their women’s team went down to Fiji yesterday in a nail biting match which Fiji won by one point.

The Fijians are also leading the individual statistics for both male and female divisions.

In today’s matches, Fiji will take on Vanuatu just after lunch in the women’s division while Tonga will play against Solomon Islands at 2:30.

PNG women’s team will play Tonga at 4pm while the PNG boys take on Fiji at 5:30.

Vanuatu men’s team is on a bye today after they beat the PNG men 8-6.
