PNG Pepes to host invitational Tri-Series

Papua New Guinea Pepes will host an international invitational Tri-Series this weekend in Port Moresby.

The three day tournament from 5-7 March and will involve Pepes invitational squad, Singapore National Team and 2015 Victoria State Championship team the Victorian Fury. 

The Tri-Series is an initiative of Netball PNG and WaterAid funded by the Australian Government and helps to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD).

Netball PNG president Julienne Leka-Maliaki said they recognise the importance of partnerships with regional countries and thanked WaterAid for being very supportive.

“We are glad that these teams are visiting our shores and we’d like to encourage all girls, women and netballers to join us celebrate IWD this weekend,” she said.

The competition rounds will be held at the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex commencing at 3pm daily.

Tickets will be sold at the gate for K15 adults and K5 for children below 12 years old.

A school netball clinic by Netball PNG and Pepes will be also conducted on March 6 in conjunction with the Tri-Series.

An IWD breakfast on March 7 will include the launch of WaterAid’s Sport for Development Program and the partnership with Netball PNG.

Singapore will arrive in the country on Friday and the Australian team will fly in on Saturday.

The first match will be played between Pepes and Singapore on Saturday, Victorian Fury will take on Singapore on Sunday and Pepes will play Fury on Monday.
