PNG men’s 4x100 team avenge women’s loss to Fiji

Sweet revenge for Papua New Guinea when the men’s relay team clinched gold in the 4x100m relay at the XV Pacific Games in Port Moresby, PNG.

PNG runners Theo Pinau, Nelson Stone, Wesley Logorava and Kupun Wisil capped off another day of dominance on the track coming first, recording a time of 40.62 seconds.

Pinau got off to a good start off the blocks and when Stone got the relay baton it was PNG leading by three metres in the back straight.

A good exchange from Stone to PNG third runner Logorava, the New Ireland man maintained the lead and passed the baton to Wisil.

In the final 100m of the relay, Wisil in front was chased by Tabakaucoro.

But it was the same result as the 400m relay, the Pacific’s fastest man could not produce the goods for a determined team PNG.

Fiji came second clocking 41.06s and third over the finish line was New Caledonia with a time of 43.00s.
