PNG loses to New Caledonia in women’s volleyball

PNG has suffered defeat to New Caledonia today in the women’s volleyball 3 sets to 1 at the BSP Arena.

New Caledonia was too strong for the home team PNG, taking out the first set 25-18.

The visitors maintained the lead in the second set 25-17 with their strong attack and placement of the ball.

PNG fought back in the third set, covering up on spaces and blocking well to win the round 25-23.

But New Caledonia made sure they didn’t give PNG any chance in the fourth quarter as they played a fast game backed up with good sets and spikes to win the fourth set 27-25.

In other matches today, Tahiti defeated Fiji 3 sets to 2 and American Samoa beat Wallis and Futuna 3-0.

PNG women play their fourth match on Wednesday against Solomon Islands.
