PNG Gulf Association of Qld gives to Malalaua High School

For the first time in many years, Malalaua High School's prayers for assistance was answered through the PNG Gulf Association of Queensland which donated more than 30 boxes of stationary worth K10,000 at the school grounds in Malalaua District yesterday.

The Association comprising of our very own Gulf Province people  who reside in Brisbane, Australia voluntarily contributed money to help their very own people with an initiatives to better their lives.

"We love our people back at home here in Kerema that's why we do it out of our hearts."

This were the remarks from Zillah Carius the chairperson of the group who broke down emotionally while addressing the student and staff of the school.

The group formed in 2007 to date has about 21 members of which only six  members were part of the delegation that visited the school

Pauline Omohae, the headmistress was lost for words of the gifts presented by the visitors and remarked that this was a relief for the school. She said that given the fact that the Tuition Fee Free Education money was not sufficient to cater for every stationary need of the students, the help by the PNG Gulf Association of Queensland was greatly welcomed and appreciated.

The students and teachers were presented also with stationary gift packs each. The group during a tour of the school grounds shed tears at the sight of the rundown infrastructure facilities because it still remains the way it was 40 years ago.
