PNG Barras win T20 friendly against England club

PNG Barramundis won one of their two friendlies against England cricket club Worcestershire County this week.

In the first match, PNG won the toss and elected to bat and posted  132 runs off their 20 overs.

Tony Ura (25), Kila Pala (36) and Chad Soper (20) were the best with the bat for the PNG Barramundis.

Worcestershire replied fairly but were not strong enough to withstand the bowling attack of the Barras, falling three runs short.

In the second match Barras put up a very good batting performance with Assad Vala (46) leading the attack.

Sese Bau (16) and Tony Ura (14) backed him up to bring the team to 7/129 from the allocated 20 overs.

Worcestershire replied strongly with Alexei Kervezee (71*) top scoring from a good partnership with George Rhodes (14*) and Shaaiq Choudhry (33) guiding the team to 3/131.

Assad Vala (2/27) and John Boge Reva (1/10) were the only wicket takers for the PNG Barras.

The matches are friendly contests leading up to the ICC World Cup Qualifiers in July to be hosted by Ireland and Scotland.
