PMGH receives help from Malaysian Association

The Port Moresby General received two new vehicles today, a 15 seater bus and a truck donated by the Malaysian Association of Papua New Guinea.

The Malaysian Association have been involved with Port Moresby General Hospital for many years and over the last three years have been donating vehicles to the hospital for their operations.

Port Moresby Hospital Chief Executive Officer Grant Muddle thanked the Malaysian Association of PNG for the  generosity  in giving  two new vehicles to the hospital.

Muddle added that the bus will be used for transportation of hospital staff to make sure they turn up to work safely and on time to attend to patients.

The hospital has an old vehicle which is costing the hospital more money to maintainbut with the timely donation of a new truck as well, the hospital can get rid of the old one and money saved can be pumped back into the facility and smooth running of the hospital, Muddle said.

“It’s this ongoing support from organisations like the Malaysian Association of Papua New Guinea that allows us to continue in developing and improving our patient care and our tag line as we know is “Better Health” which is what we are working towards,” Muddle says.

He added that it’s small things that we think might not be a lot but has a massive impact an on the organisation and such supports can help make sure we are on top of our game in health care and people get the better quality health care they deserve  at  Port Moresby General Hospital.

“The Malaysian Association work throughout the year for their big event and they have donated a lot money for a lot of organisations and we are genuinely proud and appreciative of their support toward the Port Moresby General Hospital,” Muddle says.

Committee member and Chairman for Malaysian Association Organising committee for the fundraiser, Ivan Lu says the Malaysian Association fundraising started in PNG 15 years ago and this year’s fundraising will mark 16 years.

Lu says that this donations was from the funds raised by the Malaysian Association last year in September of the association raised over a million kina of which the funds were donated and given away to 20 different charity organisations in the country.

Lu says that in the past 15 years up until today the Malaysian Association has donated over K1.8 million.

“We will continue in raising funds for a good cause and this year, the Association will be hosting a charity fundraising dinner at the Owen Stanley Hotel on the 28th and 29th of October and hopefully this year, we can be able to get more sponsors on board to fund a worthy cause,” Lu says.
