Planning underway for ENB’s Frangipani festival

Planning for this year’s Frangipani Festival in Rabaul is well underway as generous businesses houses pledge Gold and Platinum sponsorship of the event.

Go Go Cola is proudly supporting the annual Float Parade.

“The Festival is a fantastic free community event and we are pleased to support the volunteer organising committee,” said Pacific Industries’ Greg Farrell.

"Last year’s Float Parade was a huge success and we’re looking forward to again seeing lots of colour and creativity fill the streets of Rabaul."

The world renowned Engini Baining Fire Dance is this year being sponsored by RAMS.

"We are thrilled to be able to partner with the Frangipani Festival and the Baining community to present such an important cultural ceremony to the public,” said RAMS’ Michael Allayialis.

This year’s Festival also sees the return of the Rabaul Warwagira thanks to the generosity of Coastal Shipping.

Much loved stringbands who will take to the stage include Hibiscus, Talili Youngsters, Eagles, Stringwave, Moabs and an all-female group representing the East New Britain Women’s Council.

Warehouse will also play a range of classic hits such as Lovers Live Longer, Under the Boardwalk and If I Said.

The bands will them jam with headline act Anslom and Nathan Nakikus who will perform songs including Member, Nonga Base, Wewak Hill and Cherish.

A member of the organising committee, David Pua said the Frangipani Festival is a major highlight of PNG’s events calendar.

“We pride ourselves on being able to stage the Festival as a free community event and greatly acknowledge the support of our fabulous sponsors.’
