Penrith Panthers farewelled by local fans

After an entertaining match last night against SP PNG Hunters, New South Wales Cup team Penrith Panthers are on their way back home to Sydney.

The 24 players and their officials arrived at 12 noon to check in at the Jackson’s International Airport today and were farewelled by a small group of fans waiting outside the terminal.

The players looked relaxed and were all smiles as they stopped to take pictures with fans and waved as they entered the departure room.

They said despite the hot weather, they really had a great time during their three day stay.

Panthers defeated Hunters 20-12 during the trial match at the National Football Stadium.

Coach Steve Georgallis thanked Moresby supporters that turned up to watch the match and congratulated PNG Rugby Football League and the government on the new stadium.

The team departs Moresby at 2pm for Brisbane on an Air Niugini flight and will transit to Sydney.
