Pastors to usher in 404 year old bible on Independence Day

Port Moresby Christians are being invited to take part this Independence Day in an arranged march planned by the Word of God Inc.

The group, formerly known as the Ministers Fraternal,  have arranged for the 404 year old King James Bible to be brought out of the parliament chambers and airlifted around the city as part of the day’s celebrations.

According to the deputy chairman of the Body of Christ, Pastor Michael Wilson, a helicopter has been arranged to airlift the bible out of the parliament grounds from where it will be taken on a tour of the city.

The chopper carrying the bible will meet up with the congregation members who will gather at the Jack Pidik park by 4am after being picked up at main bus stops by buses provided free, courtesy of the event organizers.

Pastor Wilson says that the march will go from the park on towards the national parliament where the pastors will assemble and hand the bible to senior statesmen who will then hand it to the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill as well as other parliamentarians.

It is understood that senior statesmen Sir Michael Somare, Sir Julius Chan a  former Governor General Sir Paulius Matane are among invited guests who have yet to be confirmed to be there to receive the bible to hand over to the Prime Minister and other parliamentarians.

Pastor Wilson says that the pastors carrying the bible with the marching Christians signify them bringing the word of God into Parliament while the elder statesmen represent our respect in our forefathers.

When they hand the bible to the PM and other current members it will show a change of tide in the new leadership under God’s command.

Meantime, Chairman of the Body of Christ Inc Pastor Joseph Walters is calling on Christian residents of Port Moresby to come and support the march that will see them represent a new tide of leadership needed in our country.

Also participating will be representatives of the Motu Koitabu villagers who signify the traditional land owners who were among the first to receive God’s word.

Pamela Amini of the Motu Koitabu indigenous prayer network says that they are excited to take part in this once in a lifetime event that will signify a step forward for the traditional landowners coming out in prayer to support the nation in spiritual well being.

The community is anticipated to also have a Lakatoi motif  that they will carry during the march from Jack Pidik.
