Opposition confident it has numbers to form government

The Opposition is confident in forming the next government.

New Generation and People Progress Party have joined the Opposition ranks to form a new government.

Opposition Leader Don Polye confidentially said the numbers will grow again tonight and the coming days before the Parliament session on Friday July 22, 2016.

He said this new government they will be forming is of quality and the one that will be able to serve the people of this country.

Meanwhile, PPP leader and Minister for Petroleum and Energy Ben Micah who moved over to the Opposition today said his decision to move is of paramount importance to the people of the nation.

He said despite holding a senior portfolio in the government, he had to make this move to stop the chaos happening in the country.

Micah is confident that their camp will be increasing with MPs from the government side moving over in the next couple of days.

Sharing the same sentiments was the New Generation Party leader and Goroka MP Bire Kimisopa calling on the other MPs in government to join them and make a change for the people rather than following only one man, in PM O’Neill.

He also thanked the Opposition for their continuous fight against corruption in the country and is confident that a new government will form in the next seven days.

Parliament met today and introduced the motion of the vote of no confidence and adjourned to next Friday, July 22.

This is in accordance with the Parliament Standing Orders before the motion is deliberated and voted on by the MPs.
