NRL Premiership trophy to visit PNG

The Australia National Rugby League (NRL) Premiership trophy will for the first time visit Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea this weekend.

The Provan-Summons trophy will arrive in Moresby on Thursday (29 October) accompanied by three officials of the 2015 NRL premiers, the North Queensland Cowboys.

They are former Cowboys, State of Origin Queensland and Australian rep Brent Tate, Cowboys general manager- commercial Steve Mitchell, and senior sales and development manager Jeffrey Reibel.

They will be welcomed at the Jackson’s International Airport by staff from Trukai Industries.

Trukai Industries has confirmed that the trophy will be shown off at three main locations in the city on Saturday, namely Water Front, Vision City and Waigani Central  Stop and Shop.

The three officials will also run rugby league clinics at two schools yet to be confirmed. These schools are strong participants of PNG Rugby Football League’s school boys program.

Players from the SP PNG Hunters Club are also expected to participate in the clinic.

The team will be in the country for four days before returning to Australia.
