No compo for developments, says Maru

Yangoru Saussia MP Richard Maru has appealed to his people to accept development and not to ask for compensation.

The Local MP and Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry made this remarks during the opening of the road linking Haniak village to the Sepik Highway.

The village is under the Numbo LLG of the district.

The 1km road was constructed at the cost of K100,000 under the District Services Improvement Funds.

Present to witness the road opening was the former Secretary for the Department of National Planning, Valentine Kambori who originates from Haniak village.

Maru said Numbo LLG had received tremendous support in terms of funding in his first term in office.

He appealed to the people in that area to look after these roads as well as other Government services.

“I am willing to work with any community that is willing to accept change and development in the District that will obviously impact on the rest of East Sepik Province.

“I am pleased that none of you had asked for compensation for government services which has been a norm among many in the past.

“The Government will continue to support those that are happy to accept change and development without asking for compensation,” Maru said.

He also announced that a new hospital will be constructed to serve the people in that area.
